Icons Of Music
Fore some years Belvedere has been attending to the management and activities centred around the Museum of Russian Icons named after “F. Bigazzi; it was inaugurated in 2000 inside the old Palazzo Pretorio thanks to the donation of the collector Francesco Bigazzi. There have been many events centred around the Museum and its valuable collection of icons,
a natural trait dunion with those belonging to our own religious traditions, events that have revolved around icons as an instrument of interreligeous dialogue and cultural inspiration. Thanks to the icons, this small centre in Tuscany has travelled beyond the usual borders and landed, for instance, in America and in Russia. From a domestic point of view, Peccioli has started a further dialogue process thanks to the well proven Colloqui Internazionali sulle Religioni (International Talks on Religions) which, on a yearly basis, tackles themes of current affairs and of great religious connotation.
In this cultural path, the icon has always been the main protagonist wearing, according to the occasion, the “cloths of religion, history, art and music; it was exactly this last form of art to serve as the background of a concert called “Icons of music which took place in the Church of San Verano, an ancient Romanesque parish church. The concert saw maestro Marco
Fornaciari and his violin as protagonists of the event. The projection of sacred images very close to our hearts during the concert offered a particular scenario where both music and art combined together for presenting an event by Giulio Cesare Ricci (fon ensemble) as Art Director. He proposed sonatas by Biber, Bach and Vivaldi, dedicated to subjects very common
in icons, such as the Annunciation, Pentecost, Ascension and Crucifixion.
Not only was the concert recorded on CD to have a keepsake of this particular event, but also to allow the public to listen to pieces inspired by artistic masterpieces.
